International Symposium on Domestic Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems

by Tim Clifford on Tuesday, 04 September 2012

The Symposium Titled "International Symposium on Domestic Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems" is taking place in Trinity College Dublin on Mon Sept 10th and Tue Sept 11th. The lineup and diversity of speakers is breathtaking.

The event kicks off with a welcome from Dr. Patrick Prendergast, Provost, TCD before passing over to Mr. Gerard O'Leary who has also recently been appointed a Director of the EPA. Gerard will set the scene and give a general outline for the next two days of talks. By 10am we should be getting stuck into the first of our ten international speakers. The international speakers will be accompanied by approx ten domestic speakers.

The two sets of speakers that I know most of the community reading this article will be interested in listening to are Mr. Leo Sweeney & Ms. Margaret Keegan (Environmental Protection Agency) who will be talking about the much anticipated and long awaited “NIP” The National Inspection Plan for Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems - A Proposed Approach. Fifteen minutes has been put aside for this presentation....way too short in my opinion....however twenty five minutes have been allocated for Discussion/Q&A at the end of this morning session.

The other speaker Mr. Donal Daly (Environmental Protection Agency) talk is titled “A Risk based Methodology to Assist in the Prioritisation of the Inspection of Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems.” I know most of the wastewater community in Ireland will be interested to see how the EPA have prioritised one region over another in relation to the forthcoming Inspections.

There are approx 300 spaces available and spaces are filling up fast.

Closing Date for online bookings is today Sept 4th subject to availability.

More details click on the following link. http://bit.ly/PBGJQC

THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED ONLINE. IF YOU WISH TO REGISTER ON THE DAY, PLEASE BRING A CHEQUE FOR €175.00 MADE PAYABLE TO Helen O'Brien Management. (space available subject to availability) Queries call (01)2694848

UNOFFICIAL NOTICE: As the EPA are not in the business of organising extra curricular activity I suggest those interested in post conference scoops meet in Kehoes Pub @ 8.45pm Mon 10th Sept. Kehoes Pub is located within a stones throw of Trinity @ no.9 South Anne’s St for all ye Google Map heros.

    Ladies & Gentlemen,

August BioPro Ireland will be at Kehoe's Pub with information packs for anyone who has not seen our pre packaged system. Finger food is on us, and we will have a sneak peak at out newest model out in 2013 that promises even higher levels of treatment at no extra charge!!

Ps if we can squeeze our demo unit in, it will be there...

    Cheers!
