The WASTEWATER TIMES Ed.4 Sept 2012

The WASTEWATER TIMES - Introduction

By Tim Clifford, SiteAssessor.com

Well Well Well, did I ever think I would use the words "Electric Picnic" "EPA" and "Sex" in the same Newsletter.

In this newsletter we outline details of the forthcoming EPA conference next Mon and Tue (Sept 10th & 11th) hosted in Trinity College Dublin. If you have not heard about this conference its time to get reading. The EPA will be outlining which part of Ireland will be subject to Septic Tank inspections first and also what will be involved with the Septic Tank Inspections. The deadline for registration is today!!(I'm sure if you contact the organisers they will accommodate late registrations).

We also describe Irelands Newest and Sexiest Septic Tank which is fully Compliant with the Irish National Annex and Fully EN12566-1 Certified. Over the last year I decided to get off the fence and put my money where my mouth is. I designed and manufacturer a concrete septic tank that has addressed and tweaked issues with the older conventional septic tanks. I am currently looking for resellers all over Ireland so please feel free to give me a call after you have read the article in the newsletter.

In the next Newsletter I will discuss the benifits of drip irrigation systems for poor percolation areas. I was involved in the installation of a 500sq.m drip irrigation system for a school before the summer and I'll upload installation photos for the community. There has also been a huge amount of interest in Zero Willow Discharge Systems. Originally I thought these systems would be cost prohibitive to install but I have since come to learn that there is a company installing turn key Zero Willow Discharge Systems solutions for approx 12K.

As always if you have any topics that you would like to see addressed then please feel free to drop me a mail or give me a call.

thx for reading

International Symposium on Domestic Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems

By Tim Clifford, SiteAssessor.com

Did I ever think I would use the words "Electric Picnic" and "EPA" in the same sentence. The only way I can describe the upcoming EPA/Trinity Symposium this Sept is by saying if the Electric Picnic were to run a wastewater event then this would be it.

The Symposium Titled "International Symposium on Domestic Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems" is taking place in Trinity College Dublin on Mon Sept 10th and Tue Sept 11th. The lineup and diversity of speakers is breathtaking.

SiteAssessor.com designs Irelands Latest Concrete Septic Tank.

By Tim Clifford, SiteAssessor.com

Over the last few years I have been involved in quite a few Septic Tank installations. Sometimes things go according to plan but more often than not little issues might arise onsite that delay the installation process. e.g. Encounter Bedrock in the location of the Septic Tank Installation, effluent may need to be pumped to a different level etc

As we are all aware Part H of the building regulations changed as of June 1st this year. This means that any Septic Tank that is installed needs to be fully compliant with EN12566-1 and also be fully compliant with the IRL National Annex.

I have know for some time that these changes were coming so I decided to get off the fence and try and design/manufacture not any Septic Tank but the best Septic Tank that would grace the Irish Shores. Around a year or so ago I ran a few brainstorming sessions with a few fellow site assessors/ engineers and septic tank installers. This proved to be an excellent exercise and I used their comments/observations/suggestions to design a new type of septic tank.
